Middle School students have had an exciting and eventful final Term with many students actively engaging in both classroom and extracurricular activities. The final week of the Term has seen students and their teachers busily preparing and rehearsing for the College Celebration night. This is an opportunity for our entire school community to join together and celebrate our blessings and achievements, as well as showcasing our talents through the various items being performed on the night.
Our Year 8 students celebrated the end of their middle schooling with a trip to Jamberoo Action Park. Along with their teachers, Miss Harrison and Mr Seymour, the students enjoyed a fun packed day which included a BBQ lunch and the opportunity to relax together and enjoy the many rides and attractions on offer. Mr Fedele also attended the day out, providing an excellent opportunity for him to get to know the students and vice versa before he takes on the role as their form coordinator in 2010. The students and all their teachers had a wonderful time and were exhausted on their return after racing around the park all day!
Many of our Year 5 and 6 students are passionate about sport and have been training hard to represent the School in various sports throughput the term. Both the boys and girls soccer teams performed admirably in the TIGS trophy day both coming home with the runners up trophy after narrow defeats in the grand final. The participation of many of our Year 5 students at the recent Dragon Tag Gala Day was also inspiring with many of our students playing for the first time. A big thank you to Mr Wynn and the Year 5 and 6 teachers for their training and commitment toward providing opportunities for our students to participate in events such as this.
Our final Middle School assembly for the year was an awards ceremony and it was wonderful to see so many parents in attendance. Many students received academic awards for their achievements in various subjects this semester. Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards were also received by a record number of Middle School students, along with certificates from the Mathematics Challenge and Westpac Mathematics Competition. Our principal Mrs Reynolds, spoke brilliantly about the importance of developing character in our lives and not to place undue emphasis on achievement without integrity.
The major awards for Middle School students will be presented at Cedars Celebration and all parents and friends are welcome to attend on Thursday 10th December at Figtree Anglican Church from 6:30pm
