Smart Start
Middle School Smart Start is an information evening being held on Wednesday 2nd September, 2009 for parents of Middle School students. This evening will replace the Yr 5 and Yr 7 information evenings that appear in the school calendar. In particular there will be specific information relevant to parents who have children entering Yr 5 and Yr 7 in 2010, with presentations from our principal, welfare and curriculum teams and current Yr 5 and Yr 7 teachers
The Middle School teachers will be introducing an exciting new program that will be launched in Yr 5 and 6 next year called ‘smarTrack’. This program is designed to help students develop their God-given gifts and abilities on a more significant level. At Cedars we recognise that God has given each person unique gifts and abilities to enjoy and serve others. Through our new ‘smarTrack’ program we desire to enable our students to develop as whole people as they progress through Middle School. Students involved in the ‘smarTrack’ program will participate in focus classes and engage in activities which allow them to express their abilities in particular areas.
During the evening there will be the opportunity for parents to participate in a tour of our Middle School facilities including the specialist teaching rooms in senior college used by Middle School students for music, art and science. The evening will conclude with an informal question time where parents are able to ask teachers about the Middle School experience.
A letter will be sent inviting parents of all current Yr 4 and Yr 6 students, but any parents interested in finding out more about Middle School are also welcome to attend. A light supper will be provided and RSVP’s should be directed to Mrs Julie Cochrane via Mrs Skinner at reception.
