Cedars Christian College Students Remember the Reason for the Season
Students at Cedars are getting into the spirit of Christmas again this year by bringing a little bit of hope and joy to their neighbours at the Nursing Home across the road.
Year 5 have been making Christmas cards for our elderly neighbours at the Unanderra Nursing Home, and will do a Christmas performance for them tomorrow, 4th December at 2.00pm and hand out their cards to the 30 or so residents.
Emily Matthews, School Captain of Community Events for 2010, has coordinated tomorrow’s event, encouraging the Year 5’s as they have been practicing their Christmas carols over the past month and a half to present to the nursing home residents. Emily says, “All of the students are excited about being involved in these activities; “We realise that while Christmas is a really special time for most of us, for many people it’s a lonely and hard time and it shouldn’t be like that- so we want to do our bit to make it special for everyone.”
Cedars Year 5 class have made it a regular event to go across the road and visit with, read stories to and basically get involved in the lives of those who may not have regular visits from family or friends.
Cedars Christian College students are making a difference!
