There is alot of activity in Senior College this Term in the community, sporting and academic areas for Term 2, 2010.
Please continue to pray for our Senior College sponsor child, Semri Rikardi. He lives in the Indonesian town of Kupang, West Timor. Our sponsorship is allowing him to access education, life skills and a nutritious meal everyday. I would like to say thank you to the Student Leadership Council (SLC) who fundraised over $1000 towards Semri, Rizal’s and Joli’s ongoing sponsorship.
Senior students and teachers have recently given blood at the blood bank. Mr Sullivan led a team of Year 11 and 12 students, and teachers in giving to this much needed cause.
For the first four weeks of Term 2, we have been blessed with the arrival of a number of trainee teachers on their practical placements from Wesley College. David Verdejo, Sarah Jobson and Matt Pryce have all been wonderful additions to the College, connecting with the students and getting involved in extra-curricular activities. One who shall remain nameless (initials DV) will probably remember that giving blood was not one of his finest moments – see the Term 2, Week 2 addition of Snapshots for the evidence. We wish them all the best as they complete their studies.
A big congratulations to Rebecca Pemberton and Darren Buckley who have been selected to play for the NSW CSSA Basketball team at the national championships. Caleb Hanzy has also been selected as a reserve for the team.
Congratulations to Year 9 students for the way in which they approached their recent NAPLAN tests. I know that their teachers have been working very hard with them preparing them for this test.
Some dates for your calendars: Don’t forget the upcoming Parent-Teacher interviews for Year 11 and 12 on the 20th May. Also, coming up on June 2 is the Year 11 subject selection evening.
