Graduating Cedars Year 12 student Abbey Dawson was recently presented the Excellence in Nursing Award for her outstanding effort during her two year TVET course at TAFE Illawarra.
Teachers nominated students for the award based on their academic marks, their confidence during practical placement, exhibiting the qualities a nurse would have, and who had a commitment to and passion for this great profession.
Abbey ticked all the boxes. Standing out from the other 3000 students, Abbey was the clear winner. Not only did she receive the Excellence in Nursing Award, Abbey also came runner up in her course for ‘Student of the Year.’
“I have wanted to be a nurse for several years and, after my Year 10 work experience placement at Wollongong Hospital, I was sure. I loved my work experience,” said Abbey.
She has received early entry into Wollongong University for Nursing and is looking at focusing on Emergency and Paediatrics.
Congratulations, Abbey – we are very proud of your achievements and look forward to hearing all about your career in Nursing.
