“Some are born great, some achieve greatness and some have greatness thrust upon them” – William Shakespeare
One of our great students, Hannah Cook Year 11, has been given the opportunity of a lifetime. She has been accepted (1 of 12 only in the nation) into the prestigious world renown Bell Shakespeare Work Experience Program taking place in Sydney this November.
Hannah, who had the support of her teachers and Principal Mr Walton to apply, wrote to Mr Walton when she heard the news.
“Dear Mr Walton, I have wonderful news. I have just received confirmation that I have been selected as 1 of 12 students, from around Australia, to participate in the Bell Shakespeare Work Experience Program!”
“I am so happy for you. Well Done!!! You deserve it and I am sure you will enjoy the opportunity.” – Mr Walton
This is a huge accomplishment for Hannah who is beyond excited about this amazing opportunity. “I submitted four work samples including a short story, a proposal for an appropriation of a Shakespeare play and two short films all of which were actually school assignments.”
These peaked the interest of the selection committee who chose Hannah based on these and a two page statement of interest.
The work experience program runs for a week from the 5 – 9 of November and covers all aspects of theatre including, writing, direction, production, etc.
“Bell Shakespeare believes that our greatest resource is our capacity to imagine and to transform: to picture a different world, to know that it can be one of our own making – and that we can be both its creator and a character within it.” – Bell Shakespeare
What does the future look like for Hannah? She is imagining being in film or theatre direction or other thoughts for her future career include gallery or museum curating.
We are looking forward to helping Hannah achieve her dream.
