“Even though it was a windy rainy day, yesterday’s Book Week Parade added splashes of colour to Middle School and Junior School with students and teachers coming dressed as their favourite book character,” said Mrs Brown, Director of Primary. “This year we also welcomed our Prep students and ASPECT class to join us.”
“Our Years 5 and 6 students shared their parade and favourite book characters in the Middle School Building and our Prep – to Yr 4 students paraded in our Junior School classrooms, giving a wonderful show to parents and other students and staff who attended,” Mrs Brown went on to say.
“The highlight for me was seeing students sharing their love of reading by dressing as a character from their favourite book. Our Principal, Mr Walton, also came dressed as a ‘Green Crayon’ and read one of his favourite books, ‘The Day the Crayons Quit’ by Drew Daywalt. There were many smiles from students and parents as they watched him in his bright green costume as he interviewed teachers and students.”
After the parades, many students took advantage of purchasing books from the Book Fair and Mrs Pupovac spent some time sharing stories of books that were shortlisted for the CBC Book Awards for 2015. We look forward every year to this opportunity to celebrate reading and the joy that is found in reading books.
