Farewell to our beloved Mrs Walker

At the end of this term we will fondly farewell our beloved Mrs Sue Walker who has been with us at Cedars for more than 15 years.

Sue’s first involvement with the College goes back to 1984 when she was on the Board for Wollongong Christian Community School (before it was named Cedars Christian College). In this role, she was responsible for helping to choose the land that our school now stands on.

It wasn’t until 2006 that Sue decided to leave her employment at Wollongong University College to join the academic staff at Cedars as Director of Studies and later Deputy Principal before deciding to teach full time.

In her teaching role, Sue has enjoyed teaching a variety of subjects including English, History, Legal Studies and Commerce. She also established a Textiles Department where she taught for five years.

Sue has enjoyed teaching many of our students, and in recent years teaching the children of Cedars alumni. During this time, she has  taught in several faculties and enjoyed working and collaborating with the wonderful staff here.

Although Sue is retiring from school teaching she plans to continue her passion for learning as she pursues her lifelong dream of completing a Bachelor’s degree in Fashion and Textiles and running a business.  Those who know Sue, realise she will always be a lifelong learner!

Sue told us that she will always have fond memories of the staff and students at Cedars.

We will never forget you, Mrs Walker.  Thank you for your years of dedication and passion in teaching and leading our students forward into their future.
