“Efforts and courage are not enough without purpose and direction.” – John F Kennedy
Our Year 10 students are currently having individual coaching interviews with our dedicated Career Advisor, Andrew Gear. Prior to these one on one interviews, each student first completes a Career & Learning Pathway Validation Assessment online. Together Mr Gear and each student go through this personal assessment and try to discover the career that they will not only do well at, but will also have a passion for.
All Year 10 students have undertaken a series of Career assessment instruments developed by a Melbourne-based firm, CareersFastTrack. The assessments help students explore personal strengths, aptitudes, interests and values. Based on the results an individualised Career and Learning Pathway Portfolio is developed for each student.
Mr Gear then conducts career coaching conversations with each student to help them explore identified career interests, understand personality strengths, review personal learning styles and develop their pathway plans. The aim of the program is to develop and support students’ continued career growth and success.
Year 10 Work Experience 4-8 September 2017.
An Information Evening for Year 10 parents and students is planned for Thursday 16 March from 7:00pm to 8:00pm in the Leadership Centre, CLC1.
The Work Experience Information Evening will provide an opportunity for parents and students to gain valuable information about how to canvass and apply for their work experience placements.
All Year 10 students have the opportunity to participate in a one-week Work Experience Placement during Term 3, 4th-8th September 2017.
Many employers require significant lead time to prepare for work experience placements given the number of requests they receive from local secondary schools, TAFE college and the University.
This year Mr Gear, is seeking to provide additional information for parents and students to help them obtain their work experience placement.
All parents of Year 10 students are invited with their son or daughter to attend the information evening which will be held in the Leadership room, CLC1, at the College. The evening will run from 7:00pm to 8:00pm, followed by time for questions and information sharing.
