Inspiring our girls on International Women’s Day

“Be that girl who wakes up with purpose and intent.  Be that girl who shows up and never gives up.  Be that girl who believes anything is possible and is willing to work for it.”

International Women’s Day is a highlighted day of the year we can especially encourage our young girls, our young women to be who they dream they can be.  Who find and pursue their God given dreams and purpose and go after them.

Four of our Senior College female students were inspired this week at the International Women’s Day Brunch hosted by BlueScope and the International Women’s Day Committee.

Holly, Michelle, Sharon and Racquel heard inspirational stories from some of our local, successful women.

Amy Duggan, @_amyduggan_ Win News presenter hosted the panel including Sam Squiers, @samsquiers award-winning Sports Reporter and Founder of Sportette Advocate Group and Author of Princesses Wear Sneakers; Kezie Apps, @kezieapps04 NRL player for Jillaroos; Dr Kara Vine-Perrow who has a research program developing novel nanostructures for targeted cancer therapeutics and Katie Tully who is a Teams’ Leader at BlueScope and an Operations Engineer for coke and iron making.

The girls came away exhilarated and inspired to pursue their dreams and to never give up.

“It was definitely a very empowering discussion we heard today, which allowed each one of us to follow after our passions.  It made me think that, we shouldn’t wait for something to become a norm – although women might not be highly popular in a particular field, we should not hesitate and let the  preconceptions of others be an obstacle.”

“You can’t really pursue your dreams if you don’t see them. Find your inspiration and find your drive from your surroundings.”

“Always ask why or why not when you are told no.”

“Don’t let your passion stop just because of what others think about your career choice.”

We celebrate and champion each of our girls on International Women’s Day and every day!
