Introducing our 2021 Middle School Captains

Sport at Cedars continues to grow and 2021 will see our sporting houses; Johnson, Deakin and Orton led by an outstanding group of young leaders, our new Middle School House Captains.

These students have been involved in a wide variety of sporting endeavours throughout their time at the College. They have demonstrated exceptional teamwork, character and attitude and these qualities have been recognised as attributes that will help them in their role.

Let’s get to know our House Captains a little better:

Tahlia Hill

What is your most memorable sporting moment or achievement? 

  • “Becoming the Team Captain of my netball team and coming first in a state summer netball competition.”
What is your favourite food?
  • “Chicken parmigiana”
What do you hope to bring to your role?
  • “I would like to bring good sportsmanship, team spirit and victory.”

Will Bartlett

What is your most memorable sporting moment or achievement? 

  • “Getting to basketball Rep Team and averaging 20 plus points including placing 3rd. Also winning the Bob Kubbinga Cup!”

What is your favourite food?

  • “Chickos Chicken Schnitzel Burger with Chips”

What do you hope to bring to your role?

  • “To encourage everyone to try in every race no matter what place they come and get Orton a win!”

JOHNSON

Jayde Johnson

What is your most memorable sporting moment or achievement? 

  • “My most memorable sporting experience is making it into the Illawarra Stingrays and playing for them for 2 years.”

What is your favourite food?

  • “frappé”

What do you hope to bring to your role?

  • “As House Captain I am looking to bringing enthusiasm, encouragement and confidence to all athletes performing at the carnivals. I hope to help students feel comfortable in their surroundings here at school.”

Denzel Amone

What is your most memorable sporting moment or achievement?

  • “I was at a country meet in Homebush and I got 3rd  for the 50 M Butterfly.”

What is your favourite food?

  • “Sashimi straight after I’ve caught it.”

What do you hope to bring to your role?

  • “I hope to encourage others to participate in the carnival even if they don’t want to and help them through the hard times they’re facing.”

ORTON

Kiarra Bugg

What is your most memorable sporting moment or achievement?

  • “My most memorable sporting achievement was getting my black belt in martial arts. I had worked hard to get it for years and last year I finally was able to achieve it. It was physically and mentally challenging but I was able to push through and get it.”

What is your favourite food?

  • “I couldn’t live without satay chicken.”

What do you hope to bring to your role?

  • “I hope that I will be able help others achieve their sporting potential. I want to encourage team work and spirit so we can work together more productively. I hope to bring confidence and enthusiasm to Deakin this year.”

Jarvis Rawlings

What is your most memorable sporting moment or achievement?

  • “My most memorable moment was most probably 2018 Metro Cup. We had won every game and it was us and ICS battling for 1st and we had been equal all game until we had a corner last play and I went in and remember saying to Denzel.  ‘It’s my time and then when the cross came in I volleyed it in for the win and all of a sudden everything paused and then we all celebrated crazily – we got the medal and won Metro!”

What is your favourite food?

  • “Chikos Schnitzel Burger and Chips”

What do you hope to bring to your role?

  • “To encourage everyone to have a try and participate even if they’re not the best at it.”
