Week 3 was a very eventful week for the Japanese faculty. Firstly, we had the privilege of hosting 16 wonderful Japanese students from Yokohama Seifu High School again this year. The students had an enriching time learning English and about Australia from their host families, buddies and teachers here at Cedars.
Some of our Cedars students will have the chance to visit Yokohama Seifu High School during our Japan Language and Cultural Study Tour in October this year, enjoying the wonderful intercultural exchange opportunity.
Students from Middle School and Senior College also gathered during lunch 1 and 2 to fold 1000 paper cranes in remembrance of 6 August 1945, when the world’s first atomic bomb destroyed the city and lives of people in Hiroshima. 1000 paper cranes in Japan is a symbol of peace and harmony. Partnering in this prayer, we will be donating the cranes we have folded to the Peace Memorial Park when we visit Hiroshima during our Japan tour. You are welcome to join with us in this prayer, by folding paper cranes and passing them onto Miss Son or any of the students who will be a part of our exciting trip to Japan.
