Last Thursday 3 September, Kindergarten students had a wonderful day visiting the animals (and farmers) at Calmsley Hill City Farm. In Human Society and Its Environment (HSIE) students have been learning about the importance of farms, and all they provide for us.
Students had a wonderful time meeting a farmer and participating in a variety of rich learning experiences on the day. Students had opportunities to interact with farm animals and even milk a cow! They also eagerly watched working dog demonstrations, a stock whip show, and a live sheep shearing.
It was a busy and exciting day; students were tired but very happy by the time they got back on the bus to travel home. Thank you to Mrs Ward and Mrs Hoare for coming and helping during the day. The classes also enjoyed sharing the day with parent helpers from K Blue and K Maroon.
Kindergarten students will continue learning about farms until the end of this term and they are looking forward to baking bread in the classroom, and taste-testing a variety of products that come from farms.
