Last week our Prep students were introduced to Larry Liquid by Mr Seymour our Head of Science (from Senior College), who helped them explore the ability of liquids to perform many functions in our world.
They initially tried to compress Larry in a closed container and his friend ‘Andrew Air’ as well. Excavators and front loaders use hydraulic systems where liquids resist being compressed but air does compress.
Our youngest students also explored how we use liquids ability to flow by placing water in dams higher up so we can obtain hydroelectric power efficiently.
Larry Liquid then helped Prep students discover how pressure washers and spray bottles squeeze liquids through smaller sized tubes to increase how fast liquids move.
Big Science in little school!
