At Cedars we aim to create a safe and supportive school for all members of our community. To help promote this, students and teachers across the College will be participating in the National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence on Friday 15 March 2019.
This is a nationwide movement that encourages schools to take action and empower young people to be part of the solution when addressing bullying in their school community. It provides an opportunity to focus on bullying and the changes we can make to create safer communities for everyone.
The theme for the National Day of Action Against Bullying and Violence
is Bullying. No Way! Take action every day. Students in Junior School are invited to come to school wearing odd socks to symbolise inclusion and diversity in our school community. Middle School will be creating a “Sea of Hands” each designed by individual students with their personal anti-bullying message. Senior College students will be invited to contribute ideas on how we can improve the school environment to minimise opportunities for bullying.
We will also be raising awareness of what bullying is and isn’t and the role of the bystander through class discussions based on the information communicated in child-friendly animated clips provided by Bullying. No Way! Each student in Junior and Middle School will also be given a pocket card with “Tips About Bullying” to assist them to effectively manage bullying that may happen in person or online.
