On the 27 of August the Cedars Leadership Centre came alive with the sounds of 60 passionate junior scientists – the Year 8 Science Fair was here.
As a part of the Science curriculum, students were required to undertake a student research project on a topic of their choice. This involved designing a controlled experiment to their hypotheses, conducting the procedure to obtain reliable results, and presenting their findings in an engaging and creative manner.
The research topics presented by the students stretched across all scientific disciplines including Anatomy, Chemistry, Physics and Engineering. Judges from the University of Wollongong were in attendance to question and discuss the students’ efforts and eventually crown the most creative projects in Year 8.
Congratulations to our winners, Harrison Handicott and Madelin Hopkins for their unique research on wing design and modelling Vocal Nodules.
