You may be aware that the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) has introduced a minimum standard to receive the credential of the Higher School Certificate from 2020. Students in Year 10 in 2018 who did not receive a Band 8 or above in the 2017 Year 9 NAPLAN tests will need to take the minimum standard online test between now and Year 12 to receive their HSC in 2020.
In order to demonstrate their ability to meet the minimum standard we have set aside three dates this year to give students the opportunity to complete the tests. Students have up until the year they complete the Higher School Certificate to satisfactorily complete the tests.
Students will be given access to practice tests prior to completing the official online tests. A letter and information sheet will be sent home today with further information. To access the practice tests click here, students will need their student number and pin supplied in the letter. To find more out about this process visit the NESA website by clicking here or contact our Director of Secondary Mrs Kell Guest.
To help us facilitate the testing, parents will need to indicate on the letter return slip when you would like your child to complete these tests.
N.B – Students can nominate up to TWO opportunities each year to complete the tests. Students may opt not to do any of the tests this year.
Testing dates are 4th June, 4th September & 6th November. Notes will need to be returned to Kell Guest by Friday the 11 May.
