Our Prep – Preparing for “Big School”
At Cedars we understand that the transition from home to a child’s first day of school often isn’t easy – not just for children, but for you as a parent too. It’s reassuring to know that Cedars’ Prep for 3 to 5 year olds has prepared for just that, having received “exceeding national standard” ratings by the government’s National Quality Standard assessment for leadership and for the health and safety of our children.
Centring them in a Christ-focused learning environment that’s secure and nurturing, we know that the first five years of a child’s life are the most significant. And for that reason, every program is specifically designed for the intellectual, physical and spiritual development of your child. Each intentionally foster that much needed wonder and creativity through exciting and stimulating programs that are teacher-directed, child-initiated and spontaneous – experiences that are foundational to personal development and encouraging positive attitudes towards learning, so together, we can see little lives prepared for big school ahead.
To provide parents with comprehensive Prep services our Prep is open from 8am to 6pm, 48 weeks a year.

Ruth Brown and Cedars Staff,
My name is Stephen – father of Bethany who will entering Prep next year. I just wanted to give you some feedback regarding last Friday’s orientation day.
We are very close family friends of one of Cedars staff members and so we were already well informed about what Cedars stands for and has to offer. Can I just give some heartfelt praise and thanks for the superb efforts that were on display last Friday. The organisation was exemplary, the commitment to present the range of people and services the school offers was exceptional and the willingness to engage and the Christian ethos that pervaded operations on the day was really encouraging.
My family were just so impressed with what Cedars aims to achieve and I cannot think of a better place for our 3 year old to start her schooling than within the Cedars community. The technology Cedars offers is very dynamic and integrated, the personal relationships Cedars fosters is key to the balanced development of a student and your transparency and commitment to communicate and engage with the whole family was such a blessing – we feel Cedars is leading in all these areas relative to other options we have explored.
As an established church family at St.Marks West Wollongong, we were delighted to witness the affirming of God’s love at the centre of the school’s aims, as Steve put it ” Your children’s souls matter to us”. When I think of the schooling I received in the 1970’s it really was ‘chalk and cheese’ – the dedication to each student and willingness to personalise a student’s experience and encourage each parent to actively engage is so very exciting and helpful – I am a big believer in feedback and involvement in the process and now I feel as a father I can approach Bethany’s teachers in a meaningful way and I am very thankful Cedars set out to make this clear.
