Helen Booth is passionate about authentic connection across all levels of life, and the vital role that those connections have in our health and wellbeing as a whole.
After initially beginning studies in Primary Education, it became clear to Helen that her heart was closer to our development of psychological health and she decided to pursue that love. The journey has lead through a diverse range of experiences including youth camp leadership, childcare and a short time working for a child sponsorship charity. Helen has been working as a Psychologist since 2007 and the roles have varied across government and private practice.
“I believe in the importance of considering whole body connection. Our brain is not an abstract concept, but a single organ residing in the whole. This idea that our parts are unified can be extended to our environment too. We are healthier and cope better with stress and pressure when we are grounded in a healthy physical and emotional environment. It is not until we feel safe and secure that we can really pursue purposeful learning.”
This firm belief in the importance of environment can be seen in her experience as a “walk and talk” Psychologist. For the last 5 years she has been meeting clients outdoors and inviting them to explore psychological health in the real world rather than sitting in a man-made building.
Helen comes to Cedars with a love for the community who are already supporting her two sons, Jaedon and Aaron, through their educational journey. When she has free time Helen enjoys reading, creativity and being outdoors.
