Celebrating Achievements

Celebrating our Graduating Students and Welcoming our New Captains

I love Year 12 Graduation Day. It’s a chance to celebrate the great achievement of finishing 13 years of formal education (14 years for those who also came to Cedars at Prep). It’s also special because we stop and reflect on the year group graduating. Each group brings something unique to the school and to our community.

This year group has been led by our four school captains Connor Hutchinson, Kyle Walker, Kaylah Jordan and Allara Bexim. They have done an exceptional job leading their year group and the school and have certainly left big shoes to fill. I sincerely thank them for the way they have gone above and beyond to serve our College community and the wonderful role models they have been to those around them.

We heard from them for one last time at the Graduation Ceremony today, and in true form they spent time thanking others rather than taking credit for themselves.

It was also a great pleasure to introduce the new College Captains for 2015/16. At Cedars we have so many quality student leaders that it is always difficult to select our College Captains. They go through a lengthy selection process including a record of service, an application form, a brief interview in front of the school, a vote and a final formal interview.

It is my pleasure to announce the new College Captains, Comfort Ferguson, Hannah Murphy, Kezzia Parker, and Daniel Hanzy.

These four new Captains already exhibit leadership qualities and unique gifts and talents that will serve them well in their roles and I look forward with anticipation to see the results of their unique influence on the College community.
