Let the Planning Begin!
The beginning of a new school year is an exciting time. Classrooms are being set up, school shoes are being polished, stationery is being purchased, parents are working out routines of drop offs and pick ups, and we can’t wait to catch up with our friends to tell them about all the things we did over the break.
Welcome to 2016 at Cedars Christian College.
Yes, it is an exciting time but it can also be a little tricky to organise all of those things. My hope is that the following may assist you in your planning in the lead up to the first day of school.
Meet the Teacher
Wednesday 27th January
Any time between 1:00-5:30 pm – Prep – 12
Our Inaugural Meet the Teacher afternoon is an opportunity to meet the staff who will be teaching your children this year. You can visit their classroom, receive important information, and ask the questions you might not feel comfortable asking in a large group. I hope this means that you will know everything you need to in order to feel quite comfortable on the first day of school. Please click here for more information.
Outside of School Hours Care
3:00-6:00 pm during Term Time
Begins Thursday 28th January
Organising pick-ups in the afternoon can be difficult for busy families. Don’t forget that 2016 sees the beginning of our OSHC program. This service will operate on the College grounds between 3:00-6:00 pm during Term time. I trust that it will not only be exciting and educational for the students but a great support for the parents. Please click here for the OSHC enrolment form and further information. Bookings are essential.
Wednesday 10th February
6:00 – 7:30pm
Now that you have met your child’s teacher, arranged OSHC if required, purchased stationery, ironed uniforms and set up the routine for the year, why not join us for our annual Community Connect, a time to catch up with everyone and welcome new families.
Observing the parents at Community Connect is like watching the students as they arrive on the first day of school. Families love seeing each other again and telling all the stories of what happened over the break like the tent that fell down in the rain, or the under-cooked Christmas turkey, or the fish that got away. It really is a fun and relaxed way to begin the year after the initial rush. Click here for more information.
I hope this information helps as you are planning ahead for the 2016 school year. I look forward to partnering with you as we work together to prepare our children for another year of great progress and success.
